Red, White, and Blue Halloween

On October 23rd I decided I wanted to go home and spend some time with my family. So, I got a plane ticket and left 36 hours later. I think spontaneity must run in my family. I remember very vividly my mom coming in to my 4th grade classroom exclaiming ”we’re going to Denver.” We left right from the school parking lot.

Link and I left Miles and flew from Long Beach to Las Vegas where my mom and dad picked us up. The flight was only 50 min—much easier than a 7 hour drive with Link stuck in the car seat. Our plan was to be there for the week and Miles would drive out to meet us for Halloween weekend.

Link and I had fun just hanging out with the family. We did a lot of visiting, eating, and shopping. I was able to attend my brother’s first swim meet, make costumes for the whole family, plan games for the family party, read New Moon, have a picnic at the park, and attend a viewing of a good friend’s father. There was a lot of down time too, which is good. It was a relaxing vacation!

Spending Halloween with my family has become a tradition. We had a blast this year. Link, Miles and I dressed up as a patriotic family (perfect timing with the election)—Baby Abraham Lincoln, Uncle Sam, and Lady Liberty. I made all the costumes the day of.

I want you!

My sister and I also made my mom’s costume. She was Cotton Candy. It ended up being a very cute costume. She got a lot of attention from the kids!

On Halloween night we attended the Trunk or Treat with my parent’s ward. Afterward we ate candy until we were sick and high on sugar.

We extended Halloween and had our family party on the Saturday following. We all dressed up again. We ate more food, played games, and indulged in more conversation and candy.

And for the record, Link did AWESOME on the ride home, thanks to nursing in the car seat! Try not to picture that.

Haha. You are not the first I have heard who tried nursing in the car seat…anyways, sounds like you had a great trip! I am sure it was fun to just get away with nothing to worry about (work, school) back home. I love your mom’s costume. I would have never thought of that!

creative costumes, you guys looked great!

Those Halloweeen costumes turned out really cute. Miles’ picture is hilarious!
We’re glad you’re back; I missed you.

Michelle, we loved your costumes. Very creative! That is so funny to know you have nursed in the car seat. I am glad I am not the only one who has tried it. :)
