Smorgasbord in St. George

It’s been awhile eh? I’m sure you’ve all been sitting on the edge of your seats waiting for another post. I have a lot to catch up on so this is going to be a smorgasbord of happenings.

The biggest thing was Link and I flew out to visit my family is St. George last week. We flew from Long Beach to Las Vegas where my mom picked us up and drove us the rest of the way. The flight there was a nightmare. Driving the trip only takes 6 1/2 hours. Because our flight was delayed, I calculated our total travel time (getting to the airport, waiting for the plane etc.) to be 9 1/2 hours. It’s hard to travel with a child by yourself! So if you ever see a girl trying to push a stroller, carry a diaper bag and pull a suitcase while attempting to make it to the bathroom before she pees her pants, help her out!!!

Both Link and I got sick while in St. George. It was Link’s first time being sick with a cold/cough. Poor little guy. Then on Monday morning I came down with the flu. Thank goodness it turned out to only be a 24 hour bug. I was worried I was going to miss my flight the next morning. Diarrhea + baby + airplane = something very bad.

I did my longest run to date with my sister while visiting. We ran 6 miles of the St. George marathon route. It was great! I felt like I could go forever!

My parents recently bought a boat. So we took the family out for a ride. It was too cold to get in the water though! Link absolutely hated the life jacket. It basically paralyzed the kid because it was so bulky.

Just thought I’d throw this picture in. Because I’m usually the photographer I’m not in the pictures. So here’s one of me and my sister. Don’t we look so much alike?

I was also able to meet up with some good high school friends while there. I hadn’t seen some of them in more than 5 years! It was just like old times but not exactly. A lot happens in 5 years. Kids, weddings, missions, school. The girls chatted and the guys bonded (Rock Band style). I was so happy to see everyone and to hear how well everyone was doing.

Wow! What a fun trip–even if the getting there was so awful. (I hope the return wasn’t as painful.)

Six MILES?! I’m officially impressed. I would’ve thought coming back to such a high elevation after being away the shock to your system would’ve been paralyzing… well. I would’ve HOPED. I once ran 5 miles… (*shudder*) and was DEAD afterwards… the funny part is I wasn’t paying attention, and just kept doing laps on the track. I was totally shocked when I looked at my tracker on my iPod!

I can TOTALLY empathize with the traveling alone thing. I did that once when Jacob was 5 months old. Never again! It looks like beyond that trauma, you guys had a great time. I miss you and can’t believe how big Link is getting…! : )

So I just showed my husband your blog, and all the pics of the GOOD GOOD food and he wishes that I cooked like that, so tell your husband he is really lucky.

Well, if you feel like you could run on forever, you just go ahead and do that by yourself. I’ll stick with 5 miles for now. :) (I’m SORE, by the way).
Nice to see a picture of this famous sister of yours. You talk about her so much, it’s nice to see what she looks like!

I wish I culd have been down there to see you! I bet it was fun meeting up with some of the old gang! I love the picture of Sean and the baby… HA! I think Sean used to be scared of little children that crawled!
