One thing I love that he does lately is shake his head yes when I ask him questions. “Wanna go bye-bye?” gets an emphatic yes! “Wanna snack? Wanna get down? Wanna go play?” all get affirmations. Sometimes just for fun I’ll ask him things like “should we go change your diaper? Wanna go night-night?” I’m just waiting for the day when he figures out my little trick As for now, I’m enjoying the fact that he’s so agreeable.

Truly, you’ve never seen a prouder daddy! I mean come on, Link was born on his dad’s birthday, and he shares the same name. Though we’re told Link looks much like his mamma, he gets most of his personality from Daddy.

This weekend, Miles took Lincoln to an overnight Fathers and Sons campout. Link was by far the youngest child there. This act alone says much about Miles as a father. He’s willing, loving, fun, and has a great attitude. It was so sweet to see them the next day. I could tell they had literally bonded over night.

In this video there is a segment that reminds me so much of Miles and Lincoln. It’s when the father is sleeping outside with his infant son (his only son) waiting to go fishing in the morning. Definitely a tear jerker. Definitely worth watching!

I too thoroughly enjoyed myself with the boys gone. I can’t tell you how long it’s been since I was alone overnight in my own house. Even when we didn’t have Link, I think Miles only left me once for a school interview. I went out for sushi for the first time with a good friend who doesn’t have any kiddos of her own yet. It was so nice! However, one night was plenty! I was very anxious to see them the next day!

Link is now over 3 months old! Hard to believe, I know. I just love watching him grow and develop every day. He’s now reaching for toys with success, laughing when tickled and just for kicks every once in awhile, holding all of his weight while standing, bringing everything he can get his hands on up to his mouth, yelling to get my attention, watching me in the kitchen, and expecting to be entertained constantly. I cannot believe how well he’s been growing lately! He’s really filling out. Mom’s really happy about that.

So life has become a bit of a waiting game—just counting down until our little boy arrives. Only about 6 1/2 more weeks, which sounds so close but at the same time it seems like an eternity away! Everything in my life has become focused on his arrival. Work has become painfully sluggish as I’m slowly being phased out of the picture. I have no more motivation to go above and beyond because in the end, who would it benefit? So while at work, I sit and stew over all the things I need to accomplish before the “deadline” of June 1st. You would laugh if you knew how many times I look at craigslist.org everyday looking for great deals on needed baby items. I’ve spent hours upon hours figuring out all the hoops that come with maternity leave, taking disability, calculating sick and vacation time, ensuring there isn’t a lapse with health insurance, budgeting, etc. I could puke. I find myself surfing through just about every baby/pregnancy site on the web, hoping that somehow that will make the pregnancy pass.

I can’t focus on anything else other than having this baby and giving birth still weighs heavily on my mind. I just can’t believe that I, me, moi, will actually be giving birth in the very near future! I’ve tried to explain the feeling to a couple people, and I don’t think it made sense. To me it kinda feels like getting close to your wedding day. It’s something you always pictured growing up, but it was always in the future. That’s how I feel about this baby. I’ve always been excited to have children, but it’s always been something I wanted in the future. So now that it’s actually here, it’s a bit scary!

Miles and I have been attending our weekly child birthing classes, and they really are helping to boost my confidence. Something I do know about myself is that I am much more confident about something the more educated I am about it. I take pride in being an informed consumer. I’m starting to gather enough information to make the big decisions for my birth plan. There really is so much to learn! So with all of this baby stuff goin’ on in my head, I feel like there’s not room for much else!

One thing I like to think about though, is how pleasantly surprised I was when I got married. I always thought that marriage was a good thing, and I think I had adequately prepared mentally for how hard marriage was going to be. But, I totally underestimated how wonderful it would be! I hope to be pleasantly surprised once again with this new addition to our family!

Well, I’m so sorry I’ve disappointed a couple of my fans and haven’t updated recently. Just to let you know this post is not going to be creative in any sort of way, just a entry about what’s happenin’.

We’ll start with yesterday, Valentine’s Day! It was a wonderful day! I had a dentist appointment (doesn’t sound too wonderful at this point does it?) during lunch hour, and thanks to my new Sonicare electronic toothbrush, I was told my “pregnancy” teeth and gums look good. When I got back from the appointment, my sweet husband had left some flowers at my office door. What a wonderful sight! Work hasn’t been much fun lately, and it really brightened my day. It got even better when I got to leave work a bit early to make our 5:00 dinner reservation. Miles took me to a nice Italian restaurant with valet parking. It was so cute. He even took the time to look up proper valet tipping etiquette. When we got to the restaurant at about 4:50, neither of us were very hungry, but I guess that was the only time available when Miles made the reservation. So we just took our time and ate slowly. When we got home, I watched Becoming Jane (a very cute movie) pretty much by myself while Miles worked on his take-home exam. It was a good day, and I felt very loved

Let’s see, other things going on. Did I mention work has been crazy busy? Luckily the new manager came in for a couple hours today, and officially starts on Tuesday. I think Miles will probably be more relieved than I am when work isn’t so stressful, because he is the one who gets to hear all about it when I get home everyday.

Pregnancy is wonderful. I feel really good, the 2nd trimester really is awesome. It’s fun to feel the baby’s actual movements now, and not just the flutters. One second I’ll feel him way down by my hip bone, then another movement all the way up into my ribs. He’s taking over! I’ve also been startled awake a couple times from some big kicks. It’s scary to think he’s so active in the middle of the night!

I love that people are starting to confidently ask me if I’m pregnant and when I’m due. It must mean I finally look pregnant, not just a little chubby. Another thing I’ve really enjoyed, is hearing others tell me about their own children after they ask me about being pregnant. People really light up when you give them the chance to tell you about their own little ones! It makes me so excited!

I hesitate to mention this to the world of bloggers, but the the baby name we’re kinda leaning toward is Lincoln Miles Pomeroy. So, if you like it, go ahead and rave about it, but if you hate it, I don’t wanna know about it!
